Visit Namibia for an African Journey of a Lifetime!
A safari holiday in Namibia offers a very different safari experience to most of Africa's other iconic wildlife destinations.
Namibia has an unusual combination of spectacular desert, mountain and coastal scenery unlike anywhere else in Africa. The country also has a unique cultural mix with fascinating tribal people including the nomadic Himba and the San bushmen adding to the unique experience a safari in Namibia can provide.
A Namibia safari holiday will also provide the opportunity to see the specially adapted desert wildlife that thrives here which includes desert elephant, lion and the last free ranging Black Rhino in Africa.
A good road network between the principal areas of interest to the visitor and good accommodation options to suit all budgets make Namibia a great country to explore on a self drive holiday or on a guided group or private safari. It is also possible to visit Namibia on a flying safari although the costs for this can be quite high due to the distances involved.
It is important to allow sufficient time when visiting Namibia, the distances betwen the principal sights are considerable and to take in most of them on an overland trip really requires three to four weeks. If your time or budget are more limited then we suggest concentrating on either the North or South of the country.
A typical two week Namibia safari holiday circuit will include the spectacular red dunes at Sosussvlei in the Namib Nakluft National Park, the haunting Skeleton Coast with its life giving mists, seal colonies and shipwrecks, the mountains, valleys of Damaraland and the superb game viewing destination of Etosha National Park. If you have a bit more time visit the Himba People of Kaokaland in the far North or the Fish River Canyon in the South. Namibia also includes the wildlife viewing destination of the Caprivi Strip which adjoins Botswana's Linyanti Wetlands but this usually combines best with a visit to Northern Botswana or Victoria Falls in Zambia.
